Renee Singley
Georgia Pre-K Assistant Teacher, 15 years
I am Renee Singley, and I have been a part of Towne Lake Academy for 15 amazing years. During the school year, I teach Georgia Pre-K, and in the summer, I mentor school-age camp. I enjoy being at TLA because I have the opportunity to nurture children’s learning and support their development, skills, and knowledge. Additionally, I have incredible colleagues whom I am grateful for.
I continue to work at TLA because I am supported by a dedicated team, appreciated by the administration, and respected as an employee. I am committed to building strong relationships with students and families.
“Every child is a different kind of flower, and all together, they make this world a beautiful garden.”
Simmie McFadden
Executive Director, 12 years
I am Simmie McFadden, and I have been a part of the academy since I was a student at TLA in 1994. After graduating from high school, I went to college, returned to the academy, and worked during breaks from school. I have worked in all classrooms and have participated in two Quality Ratings.
I have a BS in Criminal Justice, a minor in Pre Law, and my Director Certification. I began working in management after my parents purchased the school in 2015 and was mentored into leadership where I now oversee both campuses as the Executive Director.
Monica Gilliand
Assistant Director, 7 years
I am Monica Gilliand, and I’ve been with TLA for 7 years. I started as an ASP teacher and am currently part of the Administration Team.
I thoroughly enjoy working at TLA because it allows me to make a meaningful impact on children’s lives. The dynamic environment is both challenging and rewarding, as I get to foster their growth, creativity, and curiosity. Daily interactions with curious and enthusiastic young minds keep me inspired and motivated. Witnessing their development, from mastering new skills to expressing themselves, brings me immense joy. I appreciate the opportunity to build strong, trusting relationships with the children, families, and my co-workers.
My role at TLA aligns with my passion for early childhood education and my desire to contribute positively to each child's journey. It is a pleasure to work for a great family that makes such a significant impact on the lives of children.
Chiraz Waja
Infants Lead Teacher, 7 years
I am Chiraz Waja, and I have been at TLA for 8 years. I am originally from Tunisia and speak Tunisian, Arabic, and French.
Since joining TLA, I have obtained my CDA Certification, LENA Certification, and participated in two Quality Ratings. I began as an assistant teacher in the Infant room and am now a Lead Teacher in the same age group.
My daughter and son were students at TLA South. I have had a beautiful experience working in all classrooms, and the babies I started with are now in 3rd grade.
Heather Richardson
After School / Bus Driver, 5 years
I am Heather Richardson, and I have been working as the extended care teacher and After School teacher here at Towne Lake Academy for five years, starting in 2019 right before the pandemic. What I love about Towne Lake North and South is the families and staff. The owners are always available to address any questions, and the environment feels like a family.
I enjoy working with the children, engaging in fun projects, and sharing my passion for science with the After School and summer camps. It has been a great experience working at Towne Lake Academy.
Charlotte Linley
Chef, 5 years
I am Charlotte Linley and I’ve been with Towne Lake Academy for over 5 years, bringing my passion for cooking to life in the kitchen. I take joy in preparing meals for the kids and seeing their enjoyment. I always put extra effort into the food I cook, perfecting even the simplest dishes.
Craig Claiborne once said, "Cooking is at once child’s play and adult joy. And cooking done with care is an act of love." I believe this wholeheartedly. The secret ingredient in every dish is passion, and the best meals are made with love and a pinch of creativity.
At TLA, we have a supportive employer, fair pay, flexibility, bonuses, and great benefits. I cherish the open-door policy and appreciate the positive work environment at TLA. This will truly be my last job, as I’m 81 years old.
Nyema Smalls
Private Pre-K4 Lead Teacher, 5 years
I am Nyema Smalls, but I’m mostly known as Ms. Smalls, and I am the Lead Teacher in Private Pre-K. This school year marks my 8th year of teaching and my 5th year at Towne Lake Academy North Campus. I spent my first 3 years teaching in Cobb County.
What I love most about TLA is the support provided by the owners and management. I am passionate about family, and the fact that TLA is family-oriented was a huge plus for me. My experience here has allowed me to build strong relationships with families and contributed to my personal growth. I have seen many families bring all their children and refer others, which speaks volumes about our staff, owners, and management as a whole.
Gloria Linley
Private Pre-K4 Lead Teacher, 8 years
I am Gloria Linley, a certified and credentialed, Private Pre-K teacher at our South Campus since June 2016.
I am inspired by witnessing the results of teaching from the students entrusted to me as they advance to kindergarten. I have had the opportunity to instill a wealth of knowledge, character, training, and respect in a fun-filled, inviting atmosphere.
My reason for continuing my employment at TLA is that I believe my steps were guided to Towne Lake Academy by the Lord. I remain due to my obedience and passion for teaching. TLA offers numerous amenities and benefits with longevity, and the owners, Sammie and Latresse Bray, are very family-oriented, loving, and caring people.
